Milan attracts stag and hen groups from across Europe, drawn by its fashion culture, aperitivo tradition, and the proximity of outstanding lake scenery within 50 to 80 kilometres. The aperitivo hour (around 6pm to 9pm) in Milan is a genuine social institution: bars in the Navigli canal district, Brera, and the Porta Venezia area put out elaborate food spreads alongside drinks, and an aperitivo circuit through two or three neighbourhoods is a very Milanese way to spend an evening.
The Navigli district, built around the navigable canals in the south-west of the city, has a dense bar and restaurant corridor that opens fully in the evening from spring to autumn. Brera, the art district just north of the Duomo, has upmarket wine bars and restaurants popular for hen party dinners. The Corso Como area north of the railway has cocktail bars and clubs. For a day trip, Lake Como (50 kilometres north) is one of the most sought-after day excursions from Milan.
The Navigli district is approximately 3 kilometres south-west of the Duomo and is best accessed by minibus rather than the Metropolitana when the group is together for an evening. The canal-side Alzaia Naviglio Grande and the smaller Darsena waterfront area are the main bar strips. From Navigli, a minibus takes the group to Brera for dinner or wine bars, then on to Corso Como for the later part of the evening. We pick up and drop off at each venue, removing the need for multiple taxis or a walk in the dark.
Como is 50 kilometres north of Milan via the SS36. The ferry from Como connects to Bellagio at the centre of the lake and to Varenna on the eastern shore -- both are popular for stag and hen group day visits. Private boat hire on Lake Como is available through local operators; we can arrange the coach to and from Como, and assist with boat hire recommendations. The return from Como gives a full evening in Milan for a Navigli or Brera circuit.
Lake Garda's western shore (Sirmione, Desenzano) is approximately 100 kilometres east of Milan via the A4. Sirmione's thermal spa and the Scaliger castle on the peninsula make it a popular hen party day destination. Gardaland theme park near Peschiera del Garda suits mixed groups. Bergamo's medieval Citta Alta, just 50 kilometres east, is a shorter and more affordable day trip option -- the old town's bars and restaurants make a pleasant mid-afternoon and early-evening stop before returning to Milan.
