Milan is served by three airports: Malpensa (MXP, 45 kilometres north-west), Linate (LIN, 7 kilometres east of the city centre), and Bergamo Orio al Serio (BGY, 50 kilometres east). Malpensa is the primary long-haul and intercontinental gateway, handling flights from North America, Asia, and the Middle East as well as European routes. Linate serves a concentrated selection of domestic and European routes from a compact airport within easy reach of the city.
Bergamo, while technically the airport of a different city, is connected to Milan by the A4 motorway and is used particularly by low-cost carriers (Ryanair) for routes branded as 'Milan Bergamo.' For groups, a hired coach from any of the three airports is more practical than managing multiple taxis when five or more passengers are travelling together, particularly from Malpensa where the taxi tariff to the city centre is high.
Malpensa (MXP) is 45 kilometres north-west of the city centre, about 45 to 60 minutes by coach via the A8 motorway. The airport has two terminals: T1 handles intercontinental and most European scheduled flights; T2 handles low-cost and charter operations. Our drivers meet groups in the arrivals hall with a name board and load luggage directly to the coach. For conference groups with presentation equipment or additional cases, the coach hold is the practical solution that the Malpensa Express train does not offer.
Linate (LIN) is just 7 kilometres east of the city centre -- about 20 to 30 minutes by coach in normal traffic. It handles mainly domestic routes (Rome, Naples, Palermo, Catania) and a smaller selection of European services. For groups arriving at Linate and heading to Fiera Milano or the Monza area, the city centre is the natural waypoint. Coach access to Linate is straightforward via the Forlanini tangential road.
Bergamo Orio al Serio (BGY) is 50 kilometres east of Milan, about 45 to 60 minutes via the A4 motorway. It is the primary hub for Ryanair routes marketed as Milan Bergamo. Groups arriving at BGY for Milan events can be transferred directly to city hotels, Fiera Milano, or out-of-city venues. An add-on visit to Bergamo's medieval upper town (Citta Alta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site) is also practical given the airport's location.
| Vehicle type | Approx. daily range |
|---|---|
| Minibus (8--16 seats) | around 110 to 200 EUR |
| Coach (24--35 seats) | around 180 to 330 EUR |
| Full-size coach (49--70 seats) | around 270 to 490 EUR |
Linate city centre transfers are at the lower range. Malpensa and Bergamo to city are mid range. Lake Como and out-of-city conference venues from any airport are at the higher end.
