Graz Airport (Flughafen Graz, IATA: GRZ) is 10 kilometres south-east of the city centre, about 15 to 20 minutes by coach via the A9 motorway and the B67. It handles Austrian Airlines flights to Vienna (the main hub connection), Lufthansa flights to Frankfurt and Munich, and seasonal charter services. For international groups, the typical routing is through Vienna (VIE) for connections from outside Europe, or through Frankfurt (FRA) or Munich (MUC) for transatlantic arrivals.
Vienna International Airport is 190 kilometres north via the A2 and A1 motorways (approximately 2 hours by coach) -- a practical transfer for groups whose best international connection is through VIE rather than GRZ. We cover both direct GRZ transfers and the Vienna-to-Graz inter-city run.
GRZ is 10 kilometres south-east via the A9 motorway. The terminal is compact with a single arrivals area; drivers meet groups at the exit with a name board. Journey time to the Hauptplatz or the Jakominiplatz (the city's main hub) is 15 to 20 minutes in normal traffic. For groups arriving for Messe Graz events (the exhibition centre is 3 kilometres north of the city centre), the direct airport-to-Messe transfer via the A9 and the Messeplatz approach takes approximately 20 to 25 minutes without entering the city centre.
Vienna International Airport (VIE) at Schwechat is 190 kilometres north of Graz via the A2 and A1. The coach journey takes approximately 2 hours in normal traffic. This is a practical option for groups connecting through Vienna on intercontinental flights: the Austrian Airlines/SWISS/Lufthansa hub at VIE has far more international connections than GRZ. The A2 motorway between Vienna and Graz is a fast, modern route through rolling agricultural country and the eastern Styrian hills. We pick up from the VIE arrivals area and transfer directly to Graz city hotels or conference venues.
Ljubljana Airport (LJU) in Slovenia is 80 kilometres south of Graz via the A9 and the Slovenian A1 motorway (approximately 60 to 70 minutes). It handles Ryanair routes from London Stansted, Brussels, and other European cities -- practical for groups whose cheapest flights route through Ljubljana. Klagenfurt Airport (KLU) is 90 kilometres west via the A9/A2 (approximately 70 minutes) and handles a small number of Austrian Airlines and charter routes. Both are viable alternatives to GRZ for particular flight combinations.
