Wolfsberg is the capital of the Lavanttal district in southern Carinthia, a valley town set between the Stubalpe to the west and the Koralpe to the east where the Lavant river runs north to join the Drau. St. Paul im Lavanttal Abbey

The Benedictine Abbey of St. Paul im Lavanttal, around 10 kilometres north of Wolfsberg, was founded in 1091 and is one of the most complete surviving medieval monasteries in Austria. The abbey church has Romanesque origins with later Gothic and Baroque additions, and the treasury holds a collection of medieval manuscripts, reliquaries, and artefacts that is among the finest in private religious ownership in the country. Getting to Wolfsberg

Klagenfurt Airport (KLU) is around 75 kilometres south-west, about 55 minutes by coach via the A2 Südautobahn. Graz Airport (GRZ) is around 90 kilometres north-east, about one hour and five minutes by the S36 motorway north. There is no direct commercial air service to Wolfsberg. The town is on the Lavanttal railway, a regional line running north from Wolfsberg to Zeltweg, and has bus connections to Klagenfurt and Graz.
