Learn MoreWhich service do you need?
The seven services below overlap, so the practical question is usually vehicle size and purpose rather than the label. If you are moving 8 to 24 people, start at minibus hire. For 25 to 53, coach hire. Above that, bus hire covers the largest vehicles including double-deck coaches carrying up to about 90.
If the journey has a specific shape rather than a specific size, go by occasion instead: airport transfers for flight-tied pickups with luggage, wedding transport for guest runs across venues, corporate travel for shuttles and delegate movement, and event transport for festivals, concerts and sports fixtures.
What every service includes
Whichever service you book, the quote covers the vehicle, a professional licensed driver, fuel and the operator's insurance, as one fixed price. Route-imposed costs such as tolls, congestion charges, ferries, venue parking and driver accommodation on multi-day tours are listed separately on the quote rather than added later.
Every booking is placed with a local operator holding the correct licensing for the country it runs in. Carrying nine or more passengers for hire makes a vehicle a public service vehicle, with an operator licence, a category D or D1 driver and tachograph rules attached.
Official sources
The licensing and drivers' hours rules described above are published by the UK authorities and, for drivers' hours, apply across the EU under Regulation (EC) 561/2006. Check the current detail at source:
