Firenze Rocks, held in June at the Visarno Arena in the Cascine Park (capacity 50,000 to 60,000 standing), is one of Italy's major rock and pop festivals, consistently attracting international headline acts. Estate Fiesolana uses the Fiesole Roman Theatre on the hills above Florence, a 3,000-seat open-air amphitheatre that programmes classical music, jazz, theatre, and contemporary dance from June to August with the Florence skyline as a backdrop. Concert transport in Florence requires attention to the ZTL restricted zone, which covers most of the historic centre. The Cascine Park (Firenze Rocks) and the Mandela Forum are both outside the ZTL. The Fiesole Theatre is accessed via the Via Vecchia Fiesolana hill road, which requires smaller vehicles for the final approach in some cases.
Firenze Rocks is held in the Visarno Arena in the Cascine Park, the large linear park running along the Arno west of the historic centre. The Fiesole Roman Theatre is on the Via Portigiani in the hill town of Fiesole, approximately 8 kilometres north-east of central Florence, around 20 to 25 minutes by coach via the Via Giuseppe Mantellini and the Viale Giacomo Matteotti. The Via Portigiani approach is narrow in sections; standard tourist coaches (up to 12.8 metres) manage the route, but drivers should be familiar with the approach. There is a small coach turning area near the theatre entrance. Estate Fiesolana performances typically end between 10pm and 11pm; return coaches position at the Piazza Mino in the Fiesole centre for post-show collection.
The Mandela Forum is in the Parterre area north of the Santa Croce district, accessible by coach via the Viale Giovine Italia and the Piazza della Liberta. It is outside the ZTL. Coach drop-off is adjacent to the arena on the Viale Manfredo Fanti. For events within the historic centre that require ZTL access, we arrange the necessary permits in advance; these apply to the approach routes, not to the venue itself (which is always outside the zone for indoor concerts).
