Slovenia is the rare country a group can tour from one hotel: Ljubljana sits in the middle, and the Julian Alps, the karst caves and the Adriatic coast are each within about an hour and a half by coach. One enquiry with dates and headcount brings back a fixed price from a local operator, minibus to full-size coach.
Ljubljana airport and arrival logistics
Ljubljana Joze Pucnik Airport (LJU) at Brnik is about 25 minutes from the capital and, usefully, on the Bled side of it: groups heading straight for the lake skip the city entirely with a 35-to-40-minute run. Larger groups sometimes fly into Zagreb, Venice or Vienna instead, all workable with a pre-booked cross-border transfer of two to four hours. The driver meets the flight and stages at the terminal forecourt.
Bled, Bohinj and the caves
The classic day pairs Lake Bled, where the island church is reached by traditional pletna boats and the coach waits at the lakeside parking, with either Vintgar gorge or the quieter Lake Bohinj further up the valley. South of the capital, Postojna Cave runs groups through on its underground railway with timed entries the transport plan is built around, and Predjama Castle in its cliff mouth is 15 minutes further. Both circuits work comfortably from a Ljubljana base with a coach and driver on day rates.
The coast and city evenings
Slovenia's short Adriatic coast centres on Piran, whose Venetian old town is closed to traffic: coaches park above the town and groups walk or shuttle down, a detail worth planning around in summer. Koper serves cruise calls, and the coastal run from Ljubljana takes about an hour and a half. Back in Ljubljana, the car-free centre means evening set-downs happen on the ring streets, a short walk from the river cafes; drivers know the workable corners.
