Seven kilometres, and Munich as backup

Nuremberg Airport (NUE) is only about 7 km north of the centre, usually 15 minutes, and is directly connected by U-Bahn line 2. Munich is the long-haul alternative at about two hours by road. That proximity makes Nuremberg one of the easier German cities for a group arrival, and the transfer is met at the terminal coach point with flight tracking.

Christkindlesmarkt and the fair calendar

The Christkindlesmarkt in the Hauptmarkt is one of the most visited Christmas markets in Europe and runs from late November to Christmas Eve, filling the old town daily and reshaping traffic across the centre. Coach set-down moves to the ring road for those weeks and regional vehicles book out well ahead, so December transport is reserved months in advance.

Through the rest of the year, NurnbergMesse in the south of the city runs major trade fairs including embedded world and BIOFACH, generating hotel-to-hall shuttle work with proper coach access at the fairground.

The walled old town and the documentation sites

Nuremberg's old town sits inside largely intact medieval walls, with the Kaiserburg castle above it, and the core is pedestrianised. Coaches set down outside the walls and the castle, the Hauptmarkt and the Albrecht Durer house are walked. The Nazi Party Rally Grounds and the Documentation Centre in the southeast are a substantial half-day in themselves, with coach parking on site, and most school and study groups build a day around them alongside the Memorium Nuremberg Trials at the Palace of Justice.

Beyond the city, Bamberg's UNESCO-listed old town is about an hour north and Rothenburg ob der Tauber roughly an hour and a quarter west, both standard coach day trips from a Nuremberg base.
