Group transport in Bangladesh centres on Dhaka and the main divisional cities, where congestion and road conditions are the defining planning factors. A quote for a coach or minibus with a driver can be arranged with a local operator once the route and dates are known.
Arriving at Dhaka
The country's main gateway is Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) in Dhaka. Dhaka traffic is heavy and journey times swing widely, so a group Dhaka airport transfer is planned with generous time and a confirmed meeting point rather than a fixed slot. For a delegation on a schedule, allowing a buffer between the flight and the first appointment is the single most useful thing to build into the plan.
Road conditions to plan for
The FCDO reports that road accidents are common in Bangladesh, citing poor driving standards, many unroadworthy vehicles and large numbers of rickshaws on the roads. It specifically warns that driving at night is dangerous, because many drivers do not use headlights and there is a risk of robbery on inter-town routes after dark, and it advises against driving alone at night. For groups this means daytime legs, an experienced local driver rather than self-drive, and realistic timings that account for congestion. Foreign drivers, in any case, need a 1949 international driving permit alongside their own licence.
The Chittagong Hill Tracts
One region needs special handling. The FCDO advises against all but essential travel to the Chittagong Hill Tracts, made up of the Rangamati, Khagrachari and Bandarban districts, and notes that visits there require ten days' advance notice to the named authorities in Chittagong. Chittagong city itself is not part of that restriction. We do not arrange transport into the Hill Tracts. For everywhere else, share the cities on your itinerary, the dates and the passenger count and we will return a fixed quote; a coach hire plan suits a larger party.
