Bus & Coach Hire in Algeria

Most group transport in Algeria runs along the northern coast, between Algiers and the other coastal cities and the country's heritage sites. A quote for a coach or minibus with a driver can be arranged with a local operator once the route and dates are known.

Arriving at Algiers

The main gateway is Houari Boumediene Airport, serving Algiers. The national carrier describes it as the country's largest airport, with two runways and three passenger terminals: Terminal 1 for domestic flights, Terminal 2 for charter and Hadj services, and Terminal 4 for international arrivals. Because a group is likely to land at the international terminal, confirm which terminal your flight uses so the driver can stage at the right forecourt for the Algiers airport transfer.

The northern cities and heritage sites

Beyond the capital, Oran, Constantine and Annaba anchor group travel along the coast. Algeria's national tourism office highlights seven UNESCO World Heritage sites, including the Roman remains at Timgad and Djemila, the Kasbah of Algiers, the M'Zab Valley, Tipasa and the Beni Hammad Fort. These are spread across the country, so a heritage itinerary needs realistic driving legs and overnight stops planned around the distances between sites.

Roads and the areas we do not cover

The FCDO reports a very high road-traffic-accident rate and erratic driving, with hazards such as sand drifts, large potholes and severe speed bumps, which is another reason groups here use a local driver rather than self-drive. Some areas are off the itinerary: the FCDO advises against all travel within 30km of the borders with Libya, Mauritania, Mali, Niger and Tunisia in the provinces of Illizi and Ouargla and the Chaambi mountains, and against all but essential travel within 30km of the rest of the Tunisia border. The land border with Morocco is closed. We do not arrange transport into those zones. Share your coastal or heritage route and we will return a fixed quote; a coach hire plan suits a touring group.
