Alcohol Policy

There is no general legal prohibition on alcohol in private hire vehicles in England for stag and hen events — unlike football coaches, which have statutory restrictions under the Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol) Act 1985. Operator policies vary. Most permit alcohol with conditions: no glass bottles, no spirits, all passengers seated when drinking, no excessively intoxicated passengers at pick-up. Ask the operator for their written policy before booking. Some operators charge an additional cleaning deposit for evening hire where alcohol is permitted.

Damage Deposits

Most operators charge a refundable damage deposit for stag and hen hire, typically 100 to 300 pounds. This is held and returned after the journey, provided the vehicle is returned in a reasonable condition. The deposit does not cover deliberate damage or excessive cleaning requirements. Get the deposit terms in writing as part of the booking confirmation.
