Augusta Raurica

Augusta Raurica (15 km east, near Augst) is the largest and best-preserved Roman town north of the Alps — a fully open-air site with theatre, forum, baths, and a Roman house with original artefacts. Ideal for history curricula from Year 7 upwards. Drive time from Basel is about 20 minutes.

Basel Zoo (Zolli)

One of Europe's most respected zoos, with over 600 species. A classic primary-school destination; the zoo's education team runs curriculum-linked workshops. Located 1 km from the city centre — easily reached by coach with drop-off directly at the entrance.

Basel Minster (Münster)

The red sandstone Basel Minster on the Rhine cliff is a landmark of medieval architecture and a focal point for humanities and RE visits. The crypt and treasury contain artefacts from the Roman and early Christian periods.
